Low-cost carrier Ryanair has launched a rescue route from Bratislava to Birmingham Airport for stranded Air Slovakia passengers.
Priced at 69 (£63), the flights began yesterday (March 3rd) in response to the collapse of the airline and are also serving Milan Bergamo Airport.
Tickets on the service can be booked until March 31st and are only open to Air Slovakia customers who have a valid booking reference.
Chief executive Stephen McNamara commented: "Air Slovakia's failure underlines the risk of flying with an airline that is not financially stable.
"Ryanair will help stranded passengers return home and ensure that those with travel plans can still travel home."
He added that Ryanair has more than 2 billion in cash reserves that make it financially dependable.
According to ATW Online, Air Slovakia ceased operations due to "financial troubles and unpaid debts" and is the third Slovakian carrier to go under in the past six months.
