KLM ups frequency of Liverpool-Amsterdam serviceBy Nick Jones.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has announced the addition of another daily flight from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

Beginning on May 10th, the extra service will bring its daily schedule to four flights between the two cities, solidifying its position at the Merseyside airport.

A Fokker 70 jet will service the new flight, which is now on sale at a cost of £79 per person return, including tax and surcharges.

KLM made the move in order to offer its customers more flexibility about when they fly.

Neil Pakey, Peel Airports deputy chief executive, said: "This gives the region's business community more flexibility and the added convenience of starting long haul journeys to an even greater choice of worldwide destinations from their local airport."

He added that extra flights from Liverpool could help the city "develop further on an international stage".

KLM currently offers flights to some 800 destinations, all of which can be accessed by Liverpool Airport passengers via Amsterdam.

Travellers can drop their baggage at self-service points at Amsterdam Airport Schipol's departure hall 2.
