Bmi has announced a codeshare deal with sister carrier Swiss.
The airlines, both part of the Lufthansa group, will now share routes from London Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh to Basel, Zurich and Geneva as of this week.
It could also improve connections between the UK and Switzerland, as well as opening up European links to the Bmi route network.
The news comes after Bmi and Swiss launched a service between London Heathrow and Geneva in January after strong customer demand.
Gregor Koncilja, Swiss country manager for the UK and Ireland, said: "This alliance is a response to increasing customer demand and provides significant benefits to passengers in northern England and Scotland who can now enjoy seamless travel to a whole host of new destinations."
Bmi recently announced similar agreements with Continental, Aegean Airlines and SN Brussels, adding to its list of 40 destinations.
Swiss currently offers 76 routes from Switzerland that Bmi customers could now have easy access to.
