Work has begun on Edinburgh Airport to update and improve its forecourt area, it has been reported.
Commencing yesterday (March 8th), the £3 million project involves replacing existing concrete blocks with steel coated concrete bollards to boost security, as well as resurfacing some surfaces around the terminal building.
Public bus services to the airport have been temporarily moved to the coach park, while a new taxi rank ensures passengers do not have to cross the road upon arrival.
The work is expected to extend into the middle of June.
Gordon Dewar, Edinburgh Airport managing director, thanked travellers for their patience as the improvements are made.
"We're constantly striving to improve our service to airlines and passengers and our ongoing investment programme is at the foundation of this," Mr Dewar said.
He added that the airport is working closely with bus companies to ensure a full service is maintained throughout the work.
Edinburgh Airport currently offers an average of 311 flights per day and serves around nine million passengers each year.
