Emirates has announced the opening of a new £1.3 million passenger lounge at Birmingham International Airport.
The carrier has set up the 7,000 sq ft facility at the airport's terminal one, the first of its kind offered by a long-haul airline at the airport, the Birmingham Mail reports.
Boasting plasma TVs, a business centre with internet access and full shower facilities, the lounge can accommodate 117 travellers and is part of a £48 million worldwide investment in airport lounges.
Chief executive Paul Kehoe told the newspaper: "Emirates has been operating flights between Birmingham and Dubai for ten years now and over this time it has provided a vital connection for the Midlands.
"We are therefore delighted to see the opening of this stunning new facility in our new international pier."
In related news, Emirates hosted the first Airbus A380 flight from a UK regional airport at Birmingham on September 9th last year to celebrate its 70th birthday.
