BA strikes to affect Aberdeen and Heathrow passengers

Passengers planning to fly between Aberdeen and Heathrow airports this week could face major delays, it has been revealed.
British Airways (BA) cabin crew voted in favour of two strikes this month ahead of the Easter holiday.
Members of the Unite union agreed to cease work for three days from March 20th and for four days from March 27th, a fact that could affect the plans of passengers who have already booked flights.
A spokesman for the carrier said he was unable to comment on whether any services would be running between the two cities during the strikes.
Bob Collier, chief executive of Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce, told the Press and Journal: "The long-term effects of this to BA could be significant if passengers opt to use other carriers for domestic flights."
He added that the airline might lose out if it opts to stop using Heathrow Airport as its main European hub of operations.
Alternative routes between Aberdeen and Heathrow will be offered by BMI, while flights from the Scottish city to Gatwick and Luton will be offered by Flybe and EasyJet respectively.
In related news, Thomas Cook will launch flights from Aberdeen to Monastir in Tunisia this summer.
