Low-cost carrier Ryanair has announced third-party advertising space on its boarding cards following the introduction of a new online check-in service.
The system ensures passengers can cut out lengthy queues by checking in fully from the comfort of their own homes and printing their own boarding cards.
According to the carrier, the advertising on the cards will be seen by some 73 million customers each year.
Ryanair chief executive Stephen McNamara said: "All passengers must check in online and print their boarding card prior to travelling so this offer provides a unique opportunity for advertisers throughout Europe to target specific Ryanair customers."
Mr McNamara added that the revenue generated through the advertising would be injected back into providing low-cost flights from UK airports such as Manchester and Birmingham.
The company expects both UK and pan-European companies to take an interest in the new advertising opportunity.
Ryanair offers flights to some 145 international destinations.
