Flybe launches summer scheduleBy James Wilson.

Low-cost carrier Flybe has announced the beginning of its summer 2010 schedule, offering 24 new routes from the UK to Europe.

According to the airline, it is now operating 42 routes from 11 airports in the UK and has boosted its domestic operations at London Gatwick Airport.

The company now runs twice as many domestic routes from the air hub as any other firm, handling twice as many domestic passengers.

New routes include Birmingham Airport to Bordeaux, Limoges, Avignon and Rennes, Edinburgh Airport to Manston Kent, Manchester Airport to Bournemouth and Bergerac and Newcastle Airport to Hannover.

Mike Rutter, Flybe chief commercial officer, said the airline is committed to providing "affordable quality flights to the widest possible range of desirable destinations".

"We are also pleased to report a significant return in business traffic over the last six months. We will continue to expand our route network and to provide innovative, quality travel options."

Flybe was recently the only UK carrier to feature in the Forbes 2009 Top 10 on-time arrival list for global airlines.
