Low-cost carrier Ryanair has begun selling the Independent newspaper on all its services from London Stansted Airport.
Launching the pilot scheme yesterday (March 29th), the airline commented that it already offers the Irish Independent and Sunday Independent on flights to and from Ireland.
The scheme will run for six-months before potentially being extended to the carrier's entire UK network.
John Simmonds, circulation manager of Independent Newspapers, stated that there will be "significant demand" for the newspaper on Ryanair flights.
Sinead Finn of Ryanair said: "We believe that this six month trial of The Independent and The Independent on Sunday will prove a huge success.
"We hope to offer these high quality newspapers to passengers at our other UK bases should this six month trial prove successful."
The Independent is priced at £1 and £1.60 on Saturdays, while the Independent on Sunday is priced at £1.60.
Ryanair operates 1,000 low cost routes across its European network.
