EasyJet expects to carry some one million passengers across its entire network of services this Easter.

According to the company, popular destinations will include Geneva, Malaga, Faro, Palma and Marrakech, while new routes to Sharm El Sheikh and Cyprus will also attract avid travellers.

The carrier has added 78 routes to its airports over the last year, offering low-cost flights to Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Paul Simmons, easyJet UK general manager, commented that customers are looking to escape wintry weather and the economic downturn.

"The majority seem to be seeking a little winter sun with families heading for the beaches and couples seeking romantic getaways in some of the great cities of southern Europe," Mr Simmons stated.

He added that routes to Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Berlin and Paris are in demand but still have available places, priced from £102 return including tax and surcharges.

Meanwhile, easyJet recently announced it would offer flights to British Airways customers left stranded by cabin crew strikes, scheduled to end today (March 30th).
