Emirates to launch A380 service at ManchesterBy James Wilson.

Manchester Airport has become the most northerly air hub in the world's double decker Airbus A380 network, it has been revealed.

According to Emirates, the 517-seat aircraft will run at Manchester from the beginning of September 2010, when the carrier celebrates its 20th anniversary of operations at the airport.

It is set to replace the Boeing 777 on the carrier's service to Dubai, a move that will make Manchester the first regional airport to host a regular A380 service.

The aircraft will boast a first class private suite, as well as economy class.

Salem Obaidalla, Emirates senior vice-president of commercial operations in Europe and Russia, said: "Manchester has become one of the strongest performers in our growing network of regional gateways.

"We are delighted to give our Manchester customers the very best available in the shape of the Emirates A380, which, without doubt, has revolutionised flying."

Emirates is currently offering all-inclusive packages to South Africa for the upcoming Fifa World Cup.
