China Airlines launches Taipei to London routeBy James Wilson.

China Airlines has launched a scheduled service between Taipei and London.

According to the operator, it began running three flights per week between Taipei and London Heathrow Airport on March 28th.

Served by an Airbus 340-300, the route's aircrafts boast 246 economy seats and 30 business class seats.

Taiwanese travellers might take note of the fact that passport holders from the country have been entitled to six-month visa-free entry to the UK since March last year.

The airline states: "This exclusive non-stop service to London Heathrow Airport highlights China Airlines' commitment to the European market and provides passengers with greater flexibility in their travels between Taiwan and London, and onward to other destinations in Europe."

Chine Airlines now offers 21 flights to five European destinations each week, including Frankfurt, Vienna, Amsterdam and Rome.

It also operates services to German cities through a code-share agreement with rail company ICE Germany.

Last month saw the company switch all of its Boeing 737-800 aircraft for Airbus 330-300, allowing it to offer more seats.
