Birmingham Airport unveils Heart of England interactive wallBy Jeremy Price.

A new interactive visitor exhibition has been launched at Birmingham International Airport.

Designed to showcase the region's businesses, tourist attractions and cultural artefacts, the motion-sensitive wall projects images as travellers pass by on their way through the airport's terminal one building.

The wall measures 18m in length and also boasts synchronised sound effects, as well as being the largest of its kind in Europe.

It is part of Welcome to the Heart of England campaign, supported by Advantage West Midlands, Marketing Birmingham and the airport itself.

Another new feature is the airport's visitor centre, which provides information about business and tourist attractions in the area.

Paul Kehoe, Birmingham International Airport chief executive, said: "Positioned at the heart of the country, we are perfectly placed for those visitors from abroad who want to experience all that the region, and further afield, has to offer."

He added the travel hub is the "perfect base for foreign visitors".

It was recently announced the airport will undergo a £13 million project to merge its two existing terminals.
