Low-cost carrier Jet2.com has carried its 20 millionth passenger from Manchester Airport.

The news comes after the airline reaches its fifth year of operations at the airport, offering a total of 29 outbound services.

Keith Moffat, along with his wife Julia, was named the 20 millionth traveller with the carrier yesterday (April 13th), winning free flights, a bottle of champagne and VIP treatment while flying.

Jet2.com managing director Ian Doubtfire said: "It has been a tough couple of years for the travel industry, but I am proud to say that we have continued to go from strength to strength and reaching our 20 million passenger landmark really demonstrates this."

He added that the airline has so far launched ten new routes from Manchester Airport this year and expects to carry a total of one million passengers by the end of 2010.

The carrier is set to offer new services to Venice, Prague, Dubrovnik, Madeira, Reus, Kos, Tunisia, Split, Gran Canaria and Salzburg.

It is currently offering flights from Manchester to Malaga from £29.99, including tax and surcharges.
