Construction and design firm Halcrow is to head a new framework to develop facilities at Glasgow Airport.
The company will co-ordinate the strategic development of the airport through environmental, planning, property and infrastructure issues in order to support its growth until 2040.
Ross Nimmo, planning and development manager at Glasgow Airport, revealed that the move will comprise an important part of the airport's new master plan, set to be released later this year.
Halcrow project manager Grant Byars said: "The framework will provide a focus for identifying development potential at the airport and the opportunities for wider economic benefits in the Glasgow region.
"This is an important project for Glasgow Airport and an exciting opportunity for Halcrow."
Halcrow will be assisted by commercial property consultants Ryden.
Glasgow Airport serves around seven million passengers every year, while also supporting more than 5,000 jobs.
The facility was closed yesterday (May 5th) following restrictions imposed by the Civil Aviation Authority due to ash clouds drifting from the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland.
