'Business as usual' at Blackpool International

'Business as usual' at Blackpool InternationalFlights to and from Blackpool International Airport are continuing to operate as normal, despite the continued chaos being caused by the volcanic ash cloud.

In a statement released on Sunday (May 9th), airport bosses said services have not been affected, despite reports of delays and disruption in some parts of the UK.

The volcanic ash cloud that brought flights to a standstill earlier this month drifted back across parts of Europe over the weekend, causing more misery for passengers.

Six airports in the north of Scotland were affected, while a number of flights from Leeds-Bradford Airport and Newcastle Airport were also grounded.

However, head of communications at Blackpool International Sue Kendrick assured passengers that it was business as usual at the airport.

"There [have] been no problems and we have not had to cancel any flights due to the ash," she told the Blackpool Gazette.

"We will monitor the situation and keep passengers up to date via our website."

Renewed activity in the Eyjafjallajokull volcano sent ash up to heights of 20,000 to 30,000 feet over the weekend, bringing further disruption a number of European flights.
