A pilot scheme that allows passengers at Manchester Airport to locate lost luggage easily has been successful.
The technology uses a tracking service to connect with special tags, allowing individuals to be reunited with their bags quickly.
Operated by CallUma, the 40-day Tag 'n' Traq trial saw more 5,000 travellers purchase the tags for £2.50 at Manchester Airport's terminal two building.
Andrew Harrison, commercial director at Manchester Airport, told Travel Daily News: "The airport is focused upon providing customers with enhanced services that are over and above standard practice and we are delighted to be working with CallUma on this exciting project."
The technology will be extended to all airports in the Manchester group.
Customers receive 24-hour, multilingual support all year round when purchasing a CallUma tag.
According to the company, over 42 million items of luggage are lost every year.
Travellers can renew their membership in the scheme at an annual cost of £3.95, however many tags they are using.
