Wizz Air celebrates 6th anniversary

Eastern European airline Wizz Air celebrated its sixth anniversary of operations this week.
The carrier, which now offers flights from UK hubs such as Liverpool, Bristol and Doncaster Sheffield, began life in Katowice in Poland on May 19th 2004 and has since then become the largest airline in central and eastern Europe.
Wizz Air currently operates a fleet of 34 Airbus A320s, specialising it routes to Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Czech Republic.
In the past year the company has served a total of 8.4 million passengers, representing a year-on-year increase of 30 per cent.
Jozsef Varadi, Wizz Air chief executive, commented: "Wizz Air has been implementing the ultra low-cost business model, which gives us the ability to continuously stimulate the market, to compete effectively with other means of transport or airlines and weather the storms."
Wizz Air also offers flights from London Luton Airport to Prague, Poznan, Budapest, Dubrovnik, Belgrade and Varna, as well as many others.
Customers are entitled to check-in online for their flights with the carrier free of charge.
