More passengers are set to fly from Doncaster Sheffield Airport next year after an increase in seat capacity by a UK airline.

Thomson Airways, which is linked with Thomas and First Choice, has revealed it will fly 15,000 more customers to its popular holiday hot spots in summer 2011.

Routes that will benefit from the added capacity include Dalaman, Bodrum, Tunisia, Malaga and Mahon.

Mike Morton, airport director at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, said the increase represents a nine per cent year-on-year growth in capacity.

"The growth is a result of strong summer 2010 forward sales and will see Thomson Airways operating two 737-800s and one 737-300 for summer 2011," Mr Morton commented.

He added that the airport is working to raise awareness of the popular routes from Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

In other news, the airport played host to the first airport web seminar last week (May 21st), featuring appearances from Peel Airports deputy chief executive Neil Pakey and easyJet UK regional general manager Paul Simmons.
