Flybe To Reduce Winter Schedule.
10/11/2011
The recently crowned ‘Best Regional Airline In Europe’, Flybe, have announced that they will be reducing their flight schedule for the Winter season following a drop in demand. It has been a mixed year for Flybe, there was the Best Regional accolade and the purchase of the Finnish airline; Finnish Commuter Airlines, but they have also issued several profit warnings.
It is a strange decision on the surface as they also announced a massive increase in profit; up 74% on the six months ending in September versus the same period in 2010. However, the figures are misleading, in 2010 all British based airlines had problems with the ash cloud so profits were considerably lower than the should have been. The reduction is likely to be in the frequency of flights, rather than removing any of their routes. It is also worth noting that this is an industry wide trend, Ryanair have also announced a reduction in flights, on the basis that they are expecting a 10% decrease in passenger numbers.
Flybe operate from many UK airports but their main base is at Exeter. If there are last minute changes to your flight, Park and Go will do our best to accommodate, just see the FAQ’s to find out how to contact us.
