Comtel Suffer Major Delays.

16/11/2011

Around two hundred passengers had been stuck in India for three days on their way to Birmingham Airport.

Reports of exactly what happened are still vague, but it does look as though the passengers were not only delayed but then asked to £150 each extra to cover the landing tax when the flight stopped to re-fuel in Vienna.

The flights from Birmingham had begun operating in October, and had proven to be very popular, but Comtel Air are now struggling to fund the return flights for many passengers already in India. If you have a booking with them it would be advisable to contact your travel agent.

A spokesman for Birmingham Airport said: “We are very concerned about this situation and understand the distress this is causing. Comtel Air has been operating from Birmingham Airport to Amritsar since October, and has so far offered a successful operation. We are therefore very disappointed that the operator is having these problems and we are urgently investigating.”
