EasyJet Report A Lift In Bookings.

26/01/2012

Despite an overall downturn in airline bookings from the UK, EasyJet have today announced an increase of 16.7% in revenue.

The increase, which means a profit in the first quarter (the three months until the end of December) of £763 million, is from an increase in passenger numbers; to 12.9 million, and, an increase in revenue from ‘extras’. Fees for luggage, food on the flights, paying by credit (or debit) card are a primary source of revenue for the low-cost carriers. This has caused a lot of controversy, both EasyJet and Ryanair have been accused of conning passengers by advertising flights at one price, and then adding fees and taxes, meaning the passenger will pay far more than the ticket price. The government have recently announced new legislation to force companies to explain additional charges, on the first page of the booking process. It was also announced today that the US will be imposing the same rules.

EasyJet are predicting a strong 2012, with the price of fuel expected to level out, and their new business strategy beginning to pay off for them. If you are flying with EasyJet, for business or pleasure, book airport parking with Park and Go for an easier journey.
