New Restaurant To Open on North Terminal.
15/02/2012
British TV chef Jamie Oliver has announced that he, in partnership with Gatwick Airport, will be opening a Jamie’s Italian Restaurant and Union Jacks bar at Gatwick’s north terminal. All as part of the continued investment in Gatwick by the owners GIP (Global Infrastructure Partners).
The restaurant will incorporate Jamie’s Italian Bakery, offering pizza and bread, as well as salads to take on the flight, or just while you wait in departures. The restaurant will be a more formal, fine dining experience (as this was something lacking at Gatwick), serving Italian specialities. The Business Development Manager for Catering & Services at Gatwick Airport, Charlotte Christiansen said: “Our partnership with Jamie Oliver heralds an exciting time for us as we continue to roll out our billion pound investment programme across the airport. With 70 per cent of departing passengers shopping, drinking or dining at Gatwick, we’ve worked closely with Jamie Oliver to create a concept that would appeal to all of our passenger groups - whether it’s a family or couple that have the time to sit down for a meal in Jamie’s Italian or Union Jack’s, or those simply wanting to ‘grab’ food to ‘graze’ on the plane.”
The restaurant will be opening in June. I you are flying out of the north terminal at Gatwick, and need to book your parking, click here, the earlier you book, the more you can save.
