The south-west of England has plenty to offer for those who find foreign travel too much hassle.
But every bank holiday, traffic reports are filled with doom and record breaking tailbacks.

Air Southwest launched cheap flights to Newquay and Plymouth from Newcastle earlier this year.
Moray Bowater, general manager of Helpful Holidays, said: "Within a few hours of leaving home you can be walking a stunning coastal path, riding the waves on a hired surf board, or simply relaxing with your favourite tipple in a Dartmoor country pub."
The daily service is operated by Bombardier jets and was introduced for passengers seeking breaks on either the north-east or south-west coasts.
Air Southwest's new cheaper flights into the West Country fly from Newcastle, Glasgow, Cork and Dublin into Plymouth City Airport in Devon.
Newquay, Cornwall Airport receives flights from Newcastle and Glasgow.
