BA Defers Long-haul Services Switch To Terminal 5

British Airways announced today (Friday, April 11th) that it is putting back plans to move its long-haul services at Heathrow Airport from Terminal Four to the recently opened Terminal 5.
The switch, which was originally due to take place on April 30th, 2008 and involves around 60 departures and 60 arrivals per day, will now be deferred to June.
All British Airways passengers who are affected by this announcement will be contacted shortly.
Willie Walsh, BA's Chief Executive said: "We are making this decision in the interests of customers. Though Terminal Five is now working well, we need to have confidence that good service can be maintained when the terminal is handling larger numbers of customers.
"It is only sensible to ensure that Terminal 5 is operating consistently at a high standard before the move begins."
The decision follows a disappointing start to operations at Heathrow Airport's new terminal, which saw the cancellation of 431 flights, costing British Airways £16 million.
