BA's Axed NY Route Will Have A New Operator, Says Manchester Airport

British Airways may have cancelled its Manchester to New York route, but the northern airport believes that another airline will take it up.
According to a report in the Manchester Evening News, management at the hub are "confident" that another carrier will resume operations of the daily service to JFK airport.
Manchester Airport claims that BA did not attempt to discuss its decision to scrap the service, which the airline claims was for "commercial reasons".
However, the hub is now said to be in talks with other airlines about the route, which an airport spokesperson described to the newspaper as "a popular route with business and leisure passengers".
Paul Simpson managing director of Visit Manchester, added: "It's a great shame that British Airways has decided to withdraw their New York service. Manchester is a popular destination for US visitors, for both city breaks and as the gateway to the north of England."
As a result of BA's decision, the only route from Manchester to JFK is now operated by Delta Airlines. Continental Airlines flies from the city to Newark Airport in nearby New Jersey.
