BIA 'won't Be Affected By January Strike'

Birmingham International Airport will be unaffected by upcoming strikes, an official has revealed.
Workers such as fire crews and security staff employed at airports including Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Southampton are set to walk out on several days in January.
However, Birmingham International Airport acted to reassure passengers from the Midlands that services at the hub would not be affected by the industrial action.
"Following some calls to our switchboard and emails sent to members of staff, we would like to reassure all passengers that Birmingham Airport is not involved in any of the strike action that is affecting some Airports around the country," explained John Morris, head of corporate affairs at the airport.
"All passengers should continue to check in according to the times set by their airline."
Yesterday (December 27th), talks between airport owners and unions broke down without coming to an agreement which would have prevented the action.
The first of the scheduled walk outs is due on January 7th.
