Birmingham Handles Record Passenger Numbers In April

April 2008 represented a milestone in terms of passenger numbers at Birmingham International Airport, it was announced yesterday (Monday, May 12th).
The hub revealed that last month it handled 712,476 passengers, representing an increase of 6.2 per cent on the figure from April 2007.
The majority of these flyers were accounted for by scheduled passengers (598,712), with a range of routes experiencing growth, including Warsaw, Inverness, Geneva and Dusseldorf.
Birmingham Airport handled 113,764 charter passengers in April, with services to Cyprus, Turkey and the Canary Islands all proving popular.
Joe Kelly, Birmingham International Airport's acting managing director, said that the hub was "delighted" to achieve "yet another record-breaking month".
He added: "With new routes launched to Bergamo with bmibaby, Newquay with flybe and Girona and Pisa with Ryanair during April, passengers travelling from their local airport continue to have an ever-increasing range of destinations to choose from."
