Birmingham Handles Record Passenger Numbers In March

Birmingham International Airport announced today (Monday, April 14th) that it saw a record-breaking March this year, handling more passengers than it has ever done before in that month.
The airport's two terminals catered for 595,306 scheduled passengers and 135,001 charter passengers last month, representing an 8.4 per cent increase over the previous year.
In March, Irish Republic routes at Birmingham Airport increased by 16.6 per cent, while non-EU routes experienced a 9.7 per cent growth.
Peter Vella, business development director at Birmingham International Airport, commented: "It is the second straight month of record-breaking passenger figures for the airport, which is obviously great news as we strive to break the ten million passenger barrier this year."
He added that the airport was "delighted" with new routes to Inverness and Newquay launched by flybe in March, as they increased the "choice available to passengers flying from their local airport".
