Bmi Launches New Route From Heathrow To Sierra Leone

UK-based carrier bmi has launched a new route from Heathrow Airport to Sierra Leone.
The airline will now fly four times a week to the west African nation's Freetown International Airport.
Bmi will operate the flights from the London-based hub on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays using its newly leased Boeing 757-200s, Africa News reported.
Joe Ashiapem, sales manager for bmi, told the site that the airline is planning for its new route to be a permanent fixture. He also noted that the carrier is aiming to make journeys as comfortable for its passengers as possible.
Africa News quoted him as saying: "Bmi cares for its customers and that is why it is giving baggage concessions of 50 kilos to business class passengers and 40 kilos to economy passengers."
Commenting on the new route, Mohamed Swarray, spokesperson for the Sierra Leone Airport Authority, told Allafrica.com that the hope is now that more carriers will begin to open up routes to Sierra Leone.
