Busy First Quarter For East Midlands Airport

East Midlands Airport (EMA) announced today (Wednesday, April 23rd) that it experienced a significant increase in passenger growth in the first quarter of 2008.
In the first three months of this year, the number of people using the airport reached 1,195,747, indicating a year-on-year increase of 15.2 per cent.
The first quarter figures were boosted by the busy Easter weekend, which saw 95,000 people departing and arriving from EMA.
This represents a seven per cent increase on the figure from the same period in 2007.
In addition, passenger growth at EMA has been stimulated by the introduction of several new routes at the hub, including First Choice flights to Goa.
This year has also seen the commencement of bmibaby flights to Warsaw.
Penny Coates, managing director of EMA commented: "The significant increases demonstrate that passengers are embracing the destinations and routes available from East Midlands Airport."
