Cardiff Sees Remarkable Passenger Growth In 2007

More and more passengers are opting to use Cardiff International Airport, new figures indicate.
Data released by the Welsh hub showed that passenger numbers increased by five per cent over the course of 2007.
In total, a record 2.1 million people took flights to and from the airport over the year.
What's more, the figures showed that people increasingly used Cardiff International to fly to other UK destinations, as domestic flight traffic jumped by 17 per cent over the 12-month period.
"Business and leisure passengers alike are rejecting the hassle and uncertainties of a long drive to catch flights," Peter Phillips, the airport's head of marketing and communications, explained.
"We see this trend continuing well into the next decade and made provision for it with last year's 10 million investment in airport facilities."
New services set to launch from Cardiff over 2008 include bmibaby's routes to Warsaw and Gdansk, Skybus' Newquay flights and operations to Jersey, Newcastle, Glasgow and Edinburgh from Flybe.
