Edinburgh Airport Gets Cycle Lane
Eco-friendly travellers will soon be able to get to Edinburgh airport under their own power on a brand new bike lane.
The construction of the lane is part of a £1 million overhaul to the city's bike routes, to encourage people to cycle more, reports the Scotsman.
In total, £1.1 million will be used by the South East Scotland Regional Transport Partnership (Sestran) for a gamut of projects in Edinburgh.
Ian Maxwell, a member of the cycling campaign group Spokes, told the Scotsman: "There was a concern that cycling would not figure too highly in Sestran's plans, but as this is a significant amount of their overall budget it shows that they are very much committed to improving cycle facilities in the Lothians.
"It is very much welcomed, especially for routes such as the proposed A8 cycle route."
The A8 link to the airport will be first of many cycling routes in the city to be improved under the new plan.
