Edinburgh Airport Prepares For Tramlink
Edinburgh Airport is set to receive a £450 million tramlink service that will connect it to the city, according to latest reports.
Trams will take passengers from Western Harbour to the airports in a smaller version of the original plans that consisted of two routes.
It is hoped that the new transport service will help the city cope with the estimated 12,000 additional vehicles on the roads by 2015.
The tramlink is set to run in addition to the bus service that already transports passengers between the city and the airport.
"We have an opportunity of money coming from the (Scottish) Executive to build the high quality transport infrastructure we need in this city.
"We cannot afford to pass that by. The citizens of the future will not forgive us," Edinburgh Central MSP, Sarah Boyack, told the Scotsman.
Proposals for a rail link for Edinburgh are also currently making their way through the Scottish parliament.
