Edinburgh May Not Need New Runway
Plans to build a new runway at Edinburgh Airport may no longer be necessary, due to the proposal to create a high-speed rail link.
Scottish transport minister, Tavish Scott, told the Scotsman that a new train service between London and Edinburgh may remove the need for an extension to the airport.
The issue was originally raised with Mr Scott by Mike Pringle, a member of the Liberal Democrats.
According to the newspaper, the transport minister suggested that a rail link as opposed to a new runway was one that was under consideration.
