Edinburgh Was Busiest Scottish Airport In March

Owing to a large number of Scottish travellers looking to escape the cold March weather, Edinburgh Airport was the nation's busiest hub last month.
The Easter break, during which many people jetted off to popular city destinations such as Amsterdam, Paris and Dublin, helped bring passenger numbers at Edinburgh Airport up to 720,012 for the month.
Holiday destinations such as Alicante, Faro and Palma also proved popular and the number of passengers travelling to or from international destinations experienced a year-on-year increase of 16 per cent.
David Johnston, managing director of Edinburgh Airport, commented: "The first of 27 new services to start this year from Edinburgh took off last month, giving passengers extra frequency and choice.
He added that £42 million was being invested in the airport in order to "meet the demands of a growing route network and increasing passenger numbers".
Edinburgh Airport handled 9.1 million passengers over the last 12 months.
