Exeter Is Fastest Growing Airport In South-west

Exeter International Airport has seen passenger numbers grow by 200 per cent over the last five years, making it the fastest growing airport in the south-west.
That is according to figures published recently by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the UK's specialist aviation regulator, which revealed that Exeter Airport handled over one million arriving and departing passengers in 2007.
Bristol and Plymouth came second and third in the south-west rankings, while in the rest of the UK, Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester all experienced a decline in popularity.
Jamie Christon, deputy managing director for Exeter Airport, commented: "We are delighted that Exeter was the strongest growing airport in the south-west.
"This growth in popularity is a clear indication that the air travellers of the region prefer to use Exeter Airport and are supportive of the airport's expansion.
"From these figures we can see that Exeter stands out as the principle airport for Devon and Cornwall and we plan to support that demand in the coming years with more choice of routes and frequency."
