Exeter To Brussels Routes 'sure To Be Popular'

Exeter to Brussels routes 'sure to be popular'The recently announced route between Exeter to Brussels is already proving very popular, officials have revealed.

Last week, Flybe revealed that it would start flights between the two airports in May 2008.

Now, tourist bodies in the south-west have said that the move is likely to be beneficial to the region.

Angela Wright, a representative for Destination Devon, explained: "These flights will give us great opportunities to attract visitors from Belgium where we know there is huge potential."

Jamie Christon, Exeter Airport's commercial director, added: "The UK is in the middle of a ten-year growth period where visitor numbers are predicted to rise by 39 per cent, short breaks are expected to increase by 58 per cent and business trips by 41 per cent.

"The development of good transport links is important to the tourism growth in the area and we are very pleased to play our part."

Recently, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) revealed that it thought that the growth of low-cost airlines had helped small airports expand their services.
