Flights To Devon And Cornwall Launched At Newcastle Airport

Two new services to Devon and Cornwall have been officially launched by Air Southwest from Newcastle Airport.

The first flights from Newcastle to Plymouth and Newquay took off today (Monday, April 28th) and both routes are set to be operated all-year round, seven days a week.

Air Southwest is confident that they will be popular with leisure and business travellers from the north east.

Mike Coombes, deputy chief executive of the carrier, asserted that it will also make holidays to the region much more accessible for many people.

He said: "We are delighted to be starting daily flights to and from the south west at Newcastle.

"I am confident that the new services will benefit the local economy by increasing the number of business and leisure visitors to the city and wider north east region. It will also open up the potential for holidays and short breaks in the south west not previously available."

Chris Sanders, head of airline relations and development at Newcastle Airport, added: "Today's launch of new flights with Air Southwest is a real endorsement of our services at Newcastle Airport. The south west offers so much for people living in the north east and forging connections between the two regions will become much easier with these air links."
