Gatwick Airport Set To Lift Cabin Baggage Restriction

Gatwick Airport set to lift cabin baggage restrictionGatwick Airport announced today (Wednesday, March 26th) that the current cabin baggage restriction is to be lifted at the London hub on March 31st 2008.

This follows the completion of work on the installation of new X-ray and archway technology in central search areas of the airport, for which the Department for Transport (DfT) granted an extension of the hand-luggage restriction.

From the end of this month, passengers travelling from the airport will be permitted to carry more than one item of baggage through security.

However, cabin baggage will still be subject to size restrictions as set out by the DfT, meaning that passengers can only carry luggage that is less than 56cm tall, 45cm wide and 25cm deep.

In addition, certain airlines will continue to operate a restriction of one item of hand baggage on flights from Gatwick Airport.

The airport has advised passengers to check with their airline before travelling.
