German Carrier Considers Scottish Routes

German flag carrier Lufthansa could be set to announce additional flights from Edinburgh International Airport.
Recently, the German carrier revealed that it would start offering flights between Bristol and Frankfurt in March next year.
Now, the Scotsman newspaper reports that Lufthansa is considering adding new services from the Scottish airport.
According to the paper, the carrier is thinking about either increasing the frequency of its service from Edinburgh to Frankfurt from three times a week to four, or introducing a new route to another German city.
During a visit to the airport, Lufthansa's UK general manager, Marianne Sammann, is reported to have said: "There are no immediate plans to expand in Edinburgh over the next few months or so, but it is something that is definitely on our radar, perhaps over the next 18 months.
"We have a number of options, but we will be deciding whether it would be best to increase our Frankfurt flights to four a day, or fly to another place in Germany. Munich, our second base and our new base at Dusseldorf would be likely options."
Earlier this month, Lufthansa increased its fuel surcharge for long-haul flights by 10 (£7) per leg.
