Glasgow Gets Irish Flights From Bmibaby

Glasgow gets Irish flights from bmibabyA new service between Glasgow Airport and Ireland has been announced by a low-cost carrier.

bmibaby said that it would begin operating the three-times weekly service from the Scottish hub to Knock on February 12th 2008.

Flights will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and tickets cost as little as £18.99 one way, including taxes and charges.

David Hodge, commercial director of bmibaby, commented: "I am delighted to be able to announce further growth at Glasgow International Airport with the start of our new three times a week service to Knock.

Gordon Dewar, managing director, Glasgow Airport, added: "We are delighted to see bmibaby expand into Ireland with a new service to Knock, their fourth from Glasgow.

"Ireland is a key market for Scotland, and this new route to the bustling west of Ireland is excellent news for business and leisure travellers. With close access to Donegal, Galway, Westport and other exciting destinations, these new flights should prove popular with Scots, and should also provide a welcome boost for our local tourist industry."

The airline currently operates 86 weekly flights to and from Glasgow International airport, flying to Birmingham International, Cardiff and East Midlands airports.
