Glasgow Skyhub Nearing Completion

Glasgow skyhub nearing completionThe new £30 million extension project at Glasgow Airport, known as skyhub, is nearing completion.

It was announced by the airport yesterday (Thursday, April 3rd) that the project team has marked the 'topping out' of the development, which is due to open to the public on October 21st.

Skyhub is part of a massive ten-year investment at Glasgow Airport and it is hoped that it will serve to reduce waiting times with a new purpose-built security search area.

The extension will also offer passengers new bars, shops, restaurants and lounges.

Gordon Dewar, managing director of Glasgow Airport, commented: "Skyhub is the first of many major investments planned at Glasgow Airport.

"By 2014, when Glasgow hosts the Commonwealth Games, the airport will be substantially transformed, boasting world-class surface access links and a modern, welcoming environment.

"However, passengers won't have to wait until 2014 to see the benefits of our investment. There are now just 200 days until skyhub opens its doors to passengers."

He asserted that the extension would "transform the experience for departing passengers".
