Hamburg Flights Begin At BIA

Flights from Birmingham International Airport and the German city of Hamburg began yesterday (May 7th).
German flag-carried Lufthansa revealed that it had successfully launched its six-times weekly service between the Midlands hub and Hamburg.
Services leave Birmingham at 11:30 and arrive in Germany at 14:10 local time. Return flights take off from Hamburg at 10:15 and touch down in the UK at 11:00.
Currently, the airline also offers flights to Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich from Birmingham International Airport.
Peter Vella, the hub's business development director, commented: "This new route to Hamburg extends Lufthansa's portfolio.
"Hamburg is an excellent destination to visit, whether on business or leisure and boasts magnificent promenades, shopping malls and trademark canals. Hamburg has many parks and gardens making it Germany's greenest city."
Marianne Sammann, Lufthansa's general manager for the UK and Ireland, added: "The service also increases the availability of onward connections as Lufthansa continues to develop Hamburg as a mini-hub to central and eastern Europe."
Other carriers operating from Birmingham include bmibaby, easyJet, Ryanair and Flybe.
