Holidaymakers 'use Stansted To Head To The US In January'

Officials from Stansted Airport have said that a significant number of holidaymakers opt to fly to the US during the month of January.

A spokesperson explained that many people were attracted to the US in search of bargains in the post-Christmas sales.

He said that the strong pound in the run up to Christmas had encouraged many consumers to think about flying from Stansted to New York and other US destinations in the new year.

"But with Stansted providing direct links to four of the most popular cities (New York, Washington, Las Vegas and Los Angeles) and access to virtually unlimited connections across the States, visiting the US couldn't be easier at any time of the year," the spokesperson added.

At the moment, both MaxJet and Eos offer business class only services to JFK airport from Stansted. Late last year, American Airlines revealed that it planned to launch flights from the London hub to New York in April.
