Liverpool Airport To Display New Artwork

Liverpool John Lennon Airport announced today (Wednesday, February 20th) that it is to display part of the Tate Liverpool's Turner Prize 2007 exhibition.
The artwork, entitled The Taxi Project, is a working black hackney cab that contains a large screen which, accompanied by surround sound, displays a film in which people on the streets of Liverpool express their thoughts about the city hosting the Turner Prize 2007.
The Taxi Project was a popular feature at the Turner exhibition and the airport hopes that its passengers will also enjoy the display.
Neil Pakey, managing director at Liverpool Airport, commented: "Putting the taxi on display alongside the yellow submarine and our major exhibits by Harry Goodwin, Paul Saltzman, Tom Murphy, John McFaul and Portuguese artist Rigo helps to cement our commitment to the Capital of Culture year and to public arts in general.
"We do hope passengers take the opportunity to arrive at the airport early to enjoy the exhibits on display."
