Luton Airport Publishes Community Engagement Strategy

London Luton Airport has set out its formal commitments to the community up 2012 in its recently published Community Engagement Strategy.

The strategy targets three key "action areas" entitled A Better Environment, A Vibrant Neighbourhood and A Growing Economy.

In addition, the document summarises the airport's plans for 2008, which include various community projects such as the development of a schools outreach programme, and the publishing of a new environmental policy.

Glyn Jones, managing director of the airport, commented: "London Luton Airport has a proud heritage as one of the major employers and catalysts for economic growth in the East of England and it is our intention to earn a similar reputation for our relationship with our neighbours.

"We aim to be a great neighbour, contributing passionately to the social, economic and environmental life of the community."

London Luton Airport has seen passenger numbers increase by nearly 400 per cent over the last decade.
