M1 Closure To Affect London Luton Passengers

London Luton Airport has today (Monday, March 10th) advised passengers travelling by car that there will be a closure on the M1 on March 15th and 16th, 2008.
This will affect junction eight of the M1 at Hemel Hempstead, which will be closed in both directions between 20.00 on March 15th and 14.00 on March 16th, allowing for the safe demolition of the existing bridge over the M1.
As a result of this work, all M1 southbound traffic will be diverted off the M1 at junction nine and diverted via A5183, B487, A414, A41, M25 J20, M25 J21A to M1 J6.
All M1 traffic travelling northbound will be diverted off the M1 at junction eight via A414 Breakspear Way, Green Lane Roundabout and return back onto the M1 via junction eight northbound entry slip road.
London Luton Airport advised passengers travelling to the hub on these dates to allow plenty of extra time for their journey, as very long delays are expected.
This work forms part of a major road widening scheme.
