'Major Project' To Resurface Edinburgh Airport Runway

Details have been announced of £16 million project to resurface the main runway at Edinburgh Airport.
Work on the project, which will take place between March 30th and November this year, will mean a temporary change to the airport's night-time operation.
The main runway will continue to be used during the day, but between 23:00 and 05:45, Sunday to Friday, flights will operate on the airport's secondary runway.
As a result areas which were previously unaffected will experience aircraft noise.
However, David Johnston, managing director of Edinburgh Airport, assured that the airport has made "every effort to minimise the disturbance to local residents".
"The runway resurfacing is a major project which we have spent many months coordinating and planning - considering the needs of our passengers, neighbours and stakeholders.
"Along with our business partners and contractors, we aim to complete the work with as little impact as possible on our environment, our operation and our local communities."
The main runway was last resurfaced in 1991.
