March Passenger Numbers Up At Durham Tees Valley Airport

Durham Tees Valley Airport announced on Tuesday (April 15th) that last month saw a significant rise in the number of flyers using the north-east hub.
The airport revealed that passenger numbers for March 2008 showed a year-on-year increase of more than 16 per cent, stimulated by the introduction of new flights to Alicante with Ryanair at the beginning of the month.
In total, Durham Tees Valley Airport handled over 46,000 passengers in March, with flyglobespan services to Spanish destinations, including the Canary Islands, proving particularly popular.
Emma Ormerod, marketing and communications manager for the airport, said: "The airport continues to provide the local community with a range of destinations and services for both the business and leisure markets and there's no doubt the recent bad weather has helped to attract local passengers to choose to fly from Durham Tees Valley Airport.
"Airlines such as flyglobespan, Ryanair and Wizz Air are expected to provide the airport with significant growth over the coming year."
